Its function, however, also depends on the age of the baby. At an early stage, when the baby is still tiny, the dou dou (or gugu) represents the mother.

The baby is not yet able to tell the difference between mum in the flesh and an object that smells like her. Therefore, when mum goes away, even for a few minutes, she can leave the teddy bear next to the baby and he will think that he is still next to her, thus avoiding fussing.

The second function is when the baby grows. The Dou Dou becomes a transitional object. That is, it becomes the first object that is no longer part of the child's body but is experienced as an object in itself, detached.

Merino Extrafine wool fibres are extremely fine, allowing them to bend much more than the fibres of traditional wools, which makes it enormously soft and gentle on the skin. 

Most Merino Wool garments can be washed in domestic washing machines at 30° with delicate washing.
